Crosswinds connect groups are all about following Jesus together. God designed us to be in relationship with him and with others–we grow the most in faith and obedience when we’re growing alongside others.
Connect Groups meet at Crosswinds and in homes in the area, currently including Canandaigua, Geneva, Shortsville, and South Bristol/Naples. Most groups meet twice a month for 1.5-2 hours. There are groups for certain ages and others that are multigenerational. Some groups are geared to me, women, families or couples and others welcome everyone.
What can you expect from a Connect Group? We share our lives, pray with and for each other, and read the Bible for transformation, not just information. We create true community by sharing our joys and struggles. We pray fervently for each other and those who are far from God. We follow a yearly Bible reading program using the SOAP method, inviting God to speak to us personally through His word.
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25
Frequently Asked Questions
About Connect Groups
What happens during a connect group gathering?
Connect groups are all about developing authentic relationships with God and others. A typical connect group gathering will have time for conversation about life, prayer, and bible study. There’s usually snacks too! There are also opportunities for groups to serve together at Crosswinds and in our community.
How long do groups last?
Connect groups meet from mid-September through mid-June. Connect groups take the summer off, but often such strong community is formed that groups will meet for social gatherings anyway! When groups relaunch in the fall, you have the option of staying in your existing group or checking out a new one.
When and where do groups meet?
Connect groups meet at various days and times throughout the week in homes all over the Finger Lakes region. Some groups meet right on the Crosswinds Canandaigua campus. We’re always looking to start new groups so the availability and location of groups will grow.
What about childcare?
Childcare options are determined by each individual group. The childcare option is in each group’s description and will either say kids are welcome or those with kids need to arrange their own childcare before attending a group.
I’m interested in leading a connect group. What should I do?
We want everyone to have the opportunity to experience the blessing of being together in a connect group. New groups need new leaders, so thanks for your interest! Your first step is to complete our online connect group leader application by clicking HERE. Once completed, someone from our Community Life ministry team will be in touch with you.
How do I join a group?
Once all of a group’s meeting details are finalized, you can see the list of open groups by clicking the button below. You’ll see the name of the leaders, day and time the group meets, and the town they gather in. When you sign up for a group, the connect group leader will get in touch with you to make introductions and share extra details.
