Who we are
Crosswinds cares about one thing more than anything else, Jesus Christ. Crosswinds is a family of individuals that have found hope in Jesus, and simply want as many people as possible to experience that same freedom.
Where we come from
Crosswinds started out as Canandaigua Wesleyan Church in 1888 in Hopewell, NY, moving to Bristol Street in downtown Canandaigua in 1924. We outgrew our Bristol Street facilities and relocation to our present site on Middle Cheshire Road was completed in 1975. Since then, we have gone through three major building projects that have allowed us to serve our community in greater ways.
Where we’re headed
Crosswinds is committed to seeing the Finger Lakes Region saturated with the love and message of Jesus Christ. We are committed to providing a safe place for people to explore their faith. We are committed to seeing people transformed by the power of God as they engage in faith and discipleship, helping each person to take their next step in their spiritual journey. Crosswinds is also committed to sharing the love and message of Jesus with those beyond our region, to the ends of the earth. We are committed to establishing disciples and churches, as well as partnering with other churches and organizations, around the world.
When are your services?
Crosswinds meets every weekend with two identical services to choose from:
- Sundays @ 9:00 & 11:00am (Watch online or join us in person)
Where are you located?
We are located at 3360 Middle Cheshire Rd in Canandaigua, NY. To view a map, or to contact us, click here.
What are the beliefs of the Wesleyan Church?
The name of our church often prompts quizzical and puzzled looks. Wesleyan? What’s that? The Wesleyan Church finds its roots in the great English preacher John Wesley and the American movement against slavery in the 1800s. Wesleyans have consistently been known for their warm personal faith in Jesus Christ and their desire to make a difference for Him in the world.
The Wesleyan Church has continued to grow over the years and you can find Wesleyan churches and missions in over 90 nations, including more than 1,700 churches in the United States and Canada.

What should I wear?
We don’t have a dress code. If you’re wearing jeans, you’ll fit right in. Come as you are and have a good time.
What's the music like?
Our Worship Team mostly plays modern worship music that is upbeat and maybe louder than you expected but earplugs are available, just let an usher know. People tend to stand during the music and sing along. Lyrics will be on the screens.
What time should I show up?
We have two identical services each Sunday to choose from at 9:00 & 11:00am. We recommend getting here about 10 minutes early to grab some coffee and find a seat. If you have kids, allow a little more time to check them in.
What do you offer for kids?
We think kids should have fun learning about Jesus. Crosswinds Kids has their own space for worship and small groups. Here they’ll sing songs, play games, and learn all about Jesus! Crosswinds Kids is available for kids ages 8 weeks – 5th grade. For more info click here.
What's available for teens?
We have a very active student ministry. Students, grades 6-12, meet weekly on Wednesdays from 6:00 – 8:30pm. Other special events, small groups, community service, missions, camps and more are available, too. For more information about our student ministry, click here.
What is Celebrate Recovery?
Celebrate Recovery is an international Christ-centered recovery program designed to help people with their hurts, habits, and hang-ups. Celebrate Recovery meets every Friday 6:00-9:30pm and is open to anyone regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey, or where they attend church regularly. You do not have to attend Crosswinds to take part in CR. For more information on CR, click here.
